I just keep trying to think... Only a few more weeks...

I seriously feel like I work in Office Space sometimes.  I know most people feel like that, but take a look at a few examples I have from today.

Example 1-

First I get an HR email saying we've got a new employee, then I get this from a co-worker:

Please disregards this email. Mr. ****** will now be joining SPS.

Thanks,

*****

(Please note that his email makes very little sense, but you can almost make out what he means.)

Then I immediately get this email:

Please disregard my disregard email and welcome ******* ****** to our growing SPS team.

Thanks,

*****

 Example 2-

I got this email, yes, it is about SNACKS.  Jesus christ, it's so bad that I'm only going to paste a portion.  I don't think anyone could handle the entire thing.

"RE Virginia snacks, let's try for some more variety. Having cheese goldfish and cheese crackers at the same time is too similar. Please keep that nuts/seeds/raisin trail mix in stock, at least one cracker/fish, pretzels, popcorn and 1 type of cookie. Try to keep this selection in the basket at all times. Then get a speciality item to put a few out each day. Rice Krispie treats are popular.

Here is the 2004 snack assessment. Why don't you use this and just add to it the current numbers. Then we'll see where we are."

Currently I am staring blankly at the 2004 Snack Assessment spreadsheet.

Seriously, is this my life?  I give my notice next Friday.

Sent!

Erin enjoyed that I spent the most money out of everyone. I guess my shopping habits carry over to work too.

yes, I got a laugh out of how much more you spent. that's a lot of money for snacks! we do not get free snacks here. at Careerbuilder we had prezels and popcorn and twizzlers. we also has free sodas and juices. that was nice. I miss that.

WAIT A MINUTE---u have u pay for this and not the company? its not fair that you have to pay for snack time and dont get a nap time as compensation

No no no, the company pays for it. But I spend the most on my office, as the assessment shows.

Okay, sending it now...but don't send it to other people cause it has my VP's name, email etc. and I am too lazy to edit that stuff out.

are u fucking kidding me?! a fucking snack assesment?! that boggles my mind. it also weirds me out that you guys have someone to man/monitor the snacks and refill them constantly, like a soccer mom or den mother:

perhaps mrs. smith could bring in her famous apple pan dowdy tomorrow? and please ask mrs. lee to bring in her delicious 3 bean salad. merit badges will also be awarded.

OMG I am the one who has to order the snacks and put them out! They tacked it onto my Office Manager duties! People complain about the snacks too. You'd think people would be grateful for free stuff at work...but no.

yeah seriously--the fact that they get free food and beverages should make them grateful. the last place i worked at got coffee, donuts and bagels once a week, and we had to donate to get anything. if you didnt, you got bad looks all day and the bagel nazis were on you.

It has come to my attention that the person buying the snack food clearly has not checked the snack matrix column 3 row 7, to ensure that this week, the week of July 11th, 2005, we would not have a conflict of snack purchases. Though as you can clearly see in the snack room, because of someone's laziness to not reference the snack assessment matrix we not have not one but TWO cheese based snacks. Proper measures will be taken to make sure this does not happen in the future and the appropriate people will be pulled aside and talked to. Thank you,

Mr. XXXXXXX
Director on Internal Snack Affairs

What's sad is that is basically what she was saying. I bet someone complained that there were two cheese snacks!

How could they complain...right now we have strawberry nutrigrain bars, cinnamon raisin nutrigrain bars, trail mix, mini oreos, chips ahoy, cheez its, goldfish, pretzels, and fucking PUDDING. Chocolate AND vanilla.

WTF do they have to complain about?

For real! Heck, 2 jobs ago we knew lay offs were coming because they didn't even give free coffee anymore.

We also have Starbucks coffee, all sorts of tea, hot chocolate and then tons of sodas.

I hate the people I work with.

Oh Mike, that was my VP that sent me that email. Then I replied and she replied AGAIN. They are serious. I wish it wasn't true, but snack stuff even came up during my review.

The VP probably makes at least $25 an hour. You should add a special column to the snack assessment that includes the cost of time spent on discussing snacks.
